Comments: 3rd quarter 2006 southern New England stumpage price survey

  • Oak prices are 60% of 2003 prices -   fuel will put us out of business
  • Traveling further for lots; markets seem stable;   some work out of state /   work being pushed to winter months;   picking up logs under 2 Mbf per load here and there. Some loads being given, others paying for removal.
  • Mills seem to be dropping prices on logs
  • Red oak not likely to rise much for up to 5 years. Too bad. White pine holding; lots of remodeling, etc.
  • Low grade markets are very poor. Just hoping markets will rise.
  • Stop the rain!!
  • Oak prices dropped.
